God is good! This was our proclamation at the Nashville Fit Games. Our athletes proudly wore the shirts stating the same!
When we arrived at the Factory in Franklin TN, we were first amazed by the beauty of the revitalized old building that housed this fun event! The athletes were slowly rolling in and the anticipation grew. Before event 1 the nerves were heightened, music was loud and the first group took off. Coach Dusan was among the 40+ Masters division. After completing 40 Dball slams, he took off running to complete his mile run. Spectators and locals at the nearby farmers market were numerous which caused a bit of confusion among the first runners. It was hard to see the trail markers. After running some extra distance and missing several turns he found his way to the finish line. Our lady athletes, Lyndie and Emily took their first shot at the team event 1, a spicy combination of heavy Dball carry and the forever feared assault bike. This didn’t stop our fierce ladies! They showed up and performed, taking 1st in their heat.
As the day progressed, they took on additional challenges. There were some heavy lifts, rowing, log pressing and lunging along with the crowd favorite, tug of war. They competed, recovered, competed some more! It was so exciting to be part of the events as we were progressing from one test of fitness to another. While the euphoria was running high, our proudest moments were related to the community and fellowship that took place. We supported each other, learned some lessons and had such a great time! Yes, there was some good food involved, too. Even though, we are weary from the travels and the strenuous workouts, we are full of joy, great memories and gratitude. In everything you do, give thanks, do it for the Lord and with excellence (Col 3:17). Yes, God is good! See you at the next one!
